SSAW pipe (Spiral Submerged Arc Welded pipe) is a spiral/helical-seam welded steel pipe made by forming hot-rolled coil into a tube and applying submerged arc welding, typically on both inside and outside seams. It’s widely used for large-diameter water transmission lines, municipal pipelines, and piling/structural applications, and can be supplied to standards such as API 5L, ASTM, and AWWA, with anti-corrosion coatings like 3LPE or FBE where required.
